Help Our Incarcerated Brothers & Sisters

One of our main goals at CT Bail Fund is to help keep our community members out of jail and prison. But despite our efforts, members of our CT Bail Fund family are often forced to return to jail and prison even after we bail them out.

Many people don’t know that prisons do not provide incarcerated people with items and resources that are critical for their survival and wellbeing. In prison stores, those who are incarcerated are forced to buy basic necessary items like hygiene products and food to supplement what’s given, and they have to buy these products at extremely high prices. Meanwhile, prison jobs pay approximately $0.25 per hour. For community members in prison, being able to afford commissary means being able to survive . It also means being able to build relationships of mutual support with others who are incarcerated, because those on inside often share what they’re able to afford with each other.
